TriMaxTM Lumber is an award-winning construction
material that is being hailed as the lumber of choice for
municipal, commercial and residential applications. This
innovative material, made from recycled plastic and reinforced
by fiberglass, is uniquely suited for outdoor structural
applications that require superior strength, exceptional
durability and ease-of-use.
TriMax Lumber offers a real alternative to treated wood
and all the inherent problems associated with it. When used
in outdoor applications, traditional treated wood requires
costly maintenance, regular replacement and continual resealing
because it constantly being battered by the forces of nature.
While chemically treated lumber typically lasts 4-10 years,
TriMax Lumber stands up to the forces of nature with a guaranteed
life of 50 years.
TriMax
Lumber:
- Is
ideally suited for structural applications because of
its exceptional strength
- Resists
attack by termites, insects and marine borers
- Outlasts
all treated woods
- Does
not rot, splinter or decompose
- Is
impervious to petroleum
- Has
excellent strength characteristics and high-impact resistance
- Does
not degrade when submerged in salt or fresh water
- Is
moisture resistant and floats
- Does
not leach contaminants into soil, ground water, sensitive
dune or marine environments
- Never
needs painting, treating or sealing
- Resists
animal odors and wastes
- Maintains
its color and texture year after year
- Is
an environmentally sound choice because it makes use
of waste material, it's fully recyclable, and it halts
the further destruction of trees and rain forests
TriMax Lumber received the 1996 Nova Award from the Construction
Innovation Forum, a group that recognizes innovative solutions,
processes or products that improve the quality, efficiency
and cost-effectiveness of construction. It's no wonder this
high-performance recycled plastic lumber is gaining so much
ground in outdoor applications.
TriMax Lumber is manufactured according to a patented process
that adds fiberglass to a blend of recycled plastics. The
addition of fiberglass makes TriMax Lumber stronger than
other plastic lumber products and the most commonly used
treated wood products. Its exceptional strength makes TriMax
Lumber the construction material of choice for outdoor structural
applications.
The plastic and fiberglass mixture is heated and continuously
extruded and then formed into the desired lumber shape,
cooled and cut to the customer specified length. The continuous
extrusion process produces plastic lumber with a high-density
solid outer layer, and a less dense cellular inner core
- both favorable characteristics for strength and weight.
TriMax Lumber is remarkably versatile and easy to use. It
can be manufactured in a wide variety of sizes and performance
grades, and is available in any transportable length. It
has the weight, feel, appearance and working characteristics
of wood, and can be installed using standard woodworking
tools, nails and other wood fastening devices.
Its unique properties make this reinforced recycled lumber
ideally suited for many outdoor applications. Projects undertaken
over the past decade built with TriMax Lumber include seashore
and wetland boardwalks, seawalls, floating docks, shellfish
beds, piers, bulkheads, bin boards, sign posts, playground
equipment, as well as animal pens, fencing and bedding.
